The term blog covers many different types of blogs that differ not only in their content, but how they are written, who writes them and how they are delivered. The type you’re most likely interested in and familiar with is the personal blog. These are written by individuals that are a kind of ongoing journal or commentary about any one topic or a combination of many topics. You probably read lots of these if you read blogs as they’re the most common blog type.

The second type of blog is similar to personal blogs, but more than one author writes these. Generally, these blogs are about a single topic that can be as broad as technology or a specific as a classic car from the 40s. There are also private blogs, which are created and run by companies. These are also known as corporate blogs. Just because a blog is used to make money does not automatically make it a corporate blog. There are plenty of personal and group blogs that make money.

One of the lesser-known types of blogs are called aggregated blogs, which are a collection of discrete blogs that are combined in a single feed for readers. This way you don’t have to search for new and interesting blogs, rather it is accumulated for you. This is more convenient and saves you time versus having to search for the blogs you are interested in reading.

In addition to the different ways blogs are created and distributed, there are many different types of genres. You’re probably familiar with many of the different genres such as political blogs, fashion blogs and health blogs. Before you start blogging, this is potentially an important question to consider. Generally, just blog about whatever interests you. It should be fun and can make you some money in the process.

Making money on a blog is a lot easier than you may think and writing about something that interests you will make it a lot easier. If you are blogging about drain cleaners but really don’t care about drain cleaners, it will be a chore to create and maintain a blog about that. If you’re interested in basketball, blog about that so it doesn’t feel like a chore having to write blog entries. While making money on blogs can be far easier than you might think, it can be very important that you own the domain if this is the route you are considering. Even if it’s not that much money, wouldn’t you love to make some money while having fun writing a blog? There’s also always the possibility that you can sell your blog at a later date and buyers are often looking for websites that have proven that they can make money.

Personal Blog – An individual’s ongoing commentary or journal on a website. Personal blog is very common type of blog.

Aggregated Blogs – These are generated automatically by software to make it easier for users to find and read the blogs they are interested in. Aggregated Blogs are collections of blogs. Aggregated blogs are very convenient if you read a lot of blogs as they can save you a lot of time.

Blogosphere – All blogs are part of what is called the Blogosphere. If you have a blog, that blog is part of the Blogosphere.

Mobile Blog – A blog that is designed to be read on a mobile device such as a cell phone or Tablet.

Guest Blogs - In this type of blog, some guest author write the content of post, and they are  expert of the subject.

Affiliate Blog - The content of the affiliate blog is written keeping in mind certain products and services whose purpose is to tell the reader about that product and service  and earn money,  if reader click on the affiliate link mentioned by them, they do that service or buy the product. 

Niche Blog- This is a subject base blog category, in which all the topics that you know or you have interest in, in this, you can create a blog by choosing the topic of your choice, like sports if you are interested in sports. If you have knowledge in cooking, you can make a food blog.

Corporate Blog- The main focus of this blog is to attracting customers and informing them about their products and services in details and encouraging them to use the company's products

This blog is usually created and maintained  by corporate group or  company, they are not intended to be money from Adsense or any other advertise media network.

Collaborative Blog– Similar to personal blogs, except Collaborative Blogs are written by a group of authors as opposed to written by a single author. Generally there is a single uniting theme in these blogs such as sports of technology. Collaborative Blogs can vary in size from single page websites to gigantic websites.
